Feeding the EMS/IR Horse

Trying to find a diet that will not only maintain lower insulin levels for the EMS/IR horse but, perhaps, help the horse recover in full can be as confusing and perplexing as anything there is. No grain, low carb

grain, no fruits, soak hay, no hay, no grass, limited grazing .. etc.

etc. etc. Myriads of information from myriads of ‘experts’ that can

simply cause a head to spin!

The following link will take you to a reference that lists the essential…

facing an interesting herd challenge - any ideas?

I've recently combined a few farm herds (challenges getting water to all) on 26 acres and am facing a shelter quandary. While there is plenty of shelter for everyone, all gravitate to a single run in now - with most denied access as two bossy mares (not the leaders, but the nastiest ones) claim the space as their own (they alternate - there are a few that can join one, the other is vicious with all sans the lead mares). What's interesting is they stay in their 'herds' for hay consumption…See More

If anyone else has seen it, please share your impressions! ~ CarolP.S. The…See More
